Heroes Gallop for Autism in Racing at Chepstow Racecourse

Heroes Gallop Jockeys

The fabulous jockeys who galloped for Autism in Racing with our generous sponsors from DragonBet

We were extremely excited to host our first fundraising race, Heroes Gallop for Autism in Racing, at Chepstow on 14th August. The jockeys taking part were former leading female rider Cathy Gannon and fellow retirees Mattie Batchelor, John Kington, Stephen Hunter and Gordon ‘Flash’ Power, alongside two work riders, Megan Sheedy and Beth Dutton. All put in immense efforts to their training and preparation and rode the race fantastically.

The race took place over one mile and was hotly contested, but John Kington triumphed, riding Baikal, trained by Grace Harris.

We are very grateful to the jockeys, owners and trainers who supported the race.

You can see a recap of the action here along with more photos and the jockeys’ reactions.

In addition to the fundraising race, we hosted a sensory space on course, enabling those with autism to enjoy the race day in a supported way. For many of our participants, attending a autism friendly race day is the first time they experience the sport of horseracing.

All funds raised from the race go towards our work supporting the autistic community, and it isn’t too late to donate. Follow this link to support our activities

We would like to thank all those who made this event possible: Chepstow racecourse for hosting the race and DragonBet who kindly sponsored the day as well as all who came along to get involved in the day.

See you at a fundraising race in 2026!
