Bring Your Team Together

The Great Big Ride is about more than taking part. It is about coming together.

We are inviting families, yards, trainers, jockeys, stable staff, friends and supporters from all walks of life to get involved. You might ride out with your yard, organise a family walk, plan a cycle route or take part in your own way.

There is no set format. The focus is on participation, community and raising vital funds to make racing more inclusive.

Take Part Your Way

You do not need a horse to join the Great Big Ride. Choose the option that works for you and make it your own.

🏇

Ride

Join on horseback, organise a yard ride-out or take part on your usual route.

🚶

Walk

Bring family, friends or colleagues together for a walk in support of the campaign.

🚴

Cycle

Plan a solo cycle, a team route or a local community challenge.

🤝

Team Up

Bring your yard, family, school, workplace or group together for a shared challenge.

Ride with the Theme

For those who would like to, you can bring the campaign to life by dressing as a dragon or knight. It can be simple or creative. This is not a competition, it is a way to add visibility, energy and fun to the day.

Jane Buick, Autism in Racing Ambassador

“The Great Big Ride is about bringing people together to make racing more inclusive for everyone.”

As a family, racing is at the centre of our lives, but having Thomas has opened our eyes to how different that experience can be for neurodivergent individuals.

What feels familiar to many can feel overwhelming to others. That’s why the work of Autism in Racing is so important. The Great Big Ride on 27th June is my way of helping support that work and helping more families feel comfortable, supported and included within the sport.

Why Fundraising Matters

Autism in Racing works to make horseracing more accessible for autistic and neurodivergent individuals and families.

Racecourses can be busy, noisy and unpredictable environments. Through autism-friendly racedays, Autism in Racing provides calm sensory spaces, quiet areas, clear information and trained hosts who understand how to support those who need it.

Each autism-friendly raceday costs around £2,000 to deliver. Funds raised through the Great Big Ride help support sensory provision, safe spaces, trained hosts and resources that reduce anxiety and improve access.
